Progynon Depot [Mar. 17th, 2007|04:33 am]
Male to Female, however you choose to say it
Hi everyone ^^.

I started my MTF therapy about 7 months ago and have been using two estraderm TTS 100 patches. To block T I take x1 100 mg Spironolactone daily and 150mg Depo-Provera every 30 days. I was just recently told that Depo is not a very good progestin so I have decided to move off it.

I've been wanting to take Androcur and have been suggested a dosage of 12.5mg per day [Cut the pill to 4 pieces ] in combination with either 100 or 200mg of Spironolactone. I have also been given the opportunity to try Progynon Depot which is an estradiol valerate injection and have been wondering what a recommended dosage would be for Progynon Depot?.

I am pretty much opened for other suggestions and improvements for my transition so comments are very welcomed ^^.

On a side note, are there any difference between Cyproterone and Androcur? besides the price difference of course.

If you can, switch completely from the Spiro to the Cyproterone. You'll get the benefit of blocking T without the potassium-sparing, blood pressure and diuretic side-affects. I went from 400mg Spiro to 100mg Cyproterone so there's the added benefit of being on a far smaler dose. Androcur is just a trade name for Cyproterone; they're both the same stuff.

It's unrealistic to compare mg numbers of spiro vs androcur/cyproterone acetate; they are totally different drugs, not just different strengths of the same thing - it's like saying you've changed from 3 oranges to 2 watermelons, so your fruit intake has gone down! In fact 100mg of androcur daily is getting towards the levels where continuous use can cause liver problems, though 400mg of spiro is admittedly pretty high.

Granted they're different drugs. I was pointing out that my total drug intake dropped. As far as the dosages go they're what my Endo feels comfortable giving me, and I haven't shown any signs of trouble. It's something to be watched, but in my case I'm on Cyproterone for only another 121 days so I'm not concerned for myself : )

About cyperterone and Androcur, the only difference is that Cyproterone is the generic name, no difference. (:

All righty ^^ I will buy cyperterone next in order to save a few bucks. As for Progynon Depot anyone know what the suggested Mg should be injected every 7-10 days?. Each 1 ml amp contains 10mg of Estradiol Valerate and the packet contains 10 × 1 ml amps. I will use the estraderm patches till they are over then switch to Progynon Depot ^^.

Thanks for all the responces ^^ I appreciate it.

The generally accepted equivalence seems to be that 100 micrograms/day transdermal 17b-estradiol is equivalent to 20 milligrams/month of intramuscular estradiol valerate (split into several injections over the month).
