Genders in LiveJournal personal info

Here I am trying to get the programmers of LiveJournal to change the choice on the Personal Info form between "male" "female" and "unspecified" to a blank textbox where users can fill in any gender they like. I am meeting with resistence, and things do not look promising. If anybody wants to help out in the debate, show support, or just see what's going on, check out the thread.

Restrooms

One of the things I have read about is the problem of dealing with using restrooms. This is more of a problem for M2F then for F2M. One of the pieces of advice I read about was that you should simply go to the restroom before you leave to go shopping, whatever.

I don't imagine that will work in 100% of the cases. Another suggestion was to go shopping, etc, with someone you know and have them go to the restroom with you.

The matter revolves a lot around chance. If a tg person goes to the restroom and there is no one else there, then no one will be the wiser. If a tg person goes to the restroom and it's filled with people, there could be problems, possibly even legal ones.

In the workplace I've read of various solutions, sometimes including designating one restroom for the tg person alone and banning that person from using any of the other restrooms.

If anyone else has any information/ideas on this, please go ahead and add them here.

(As for me, personally, since I am not doing any physical transitions

(As for me, personally, since I am not doing any physical transitions <even though I'd like to, but circumstances prevent that> restrooms are not a problem as long as no one looks over the top of a stall and notices that I have panties on instead of boxers or briefs. Then, again, if they're looking over the top of a stall then they must have even more complex issues to deal with than I do :) >
